Bingo from its ground
Bingo is a type of lottery with a very low level of complexity and is played by thousands or maybe even millions of people of different ages around the globe. If we were to look at the history of this game, we would have to go back to Italy during the sixteenth century. Bingo was first born as Lotto. Nowadays the Italian State lottery has come to be a primary and necessary must so that the government’s budget functions well and achives their expectations. Another aspect of the history of Bingo shows that when the game started it was called “Beano”. This was another variation of Bingo and the players had to shout Beano everytime they were able to complete a determined pattern of numbers or a sequence. In Beano, each of the players would get a card that had different numbers stamped on them. Then someone would call out numbers that went from one to ninety. The winner of Beano would be the person who was able to complete the pattern of numbers called out.
In 1778 the game of Bingo arrived in France. The popular game was welcomed by the people for the amount of entertainment it provided, however it had to deal with a bit of disapproval from the Church as it was considered a gambling practice. Nevertheless a few years after lotteries had spread like wildfire all across the European territory.
In 1920 the game of Bingo came to the United States and as mentioned before at the beginning it was known as Beano because the players would use lima or pinto beans to mark on their cards what numbers had been called out in their favor. The game came to be known as Bingo when Edwin S. Lowe, a toy salesman from New York gave it that name when he heard someone yell Bingo by mistake during a game of Beano. He also hired a math teacher from Columbia University and together they were able to make the game of Bingo have many different combinations which made the game more dynamic.
In a matter of only a few years Bingo spread through the United States. At the beginning it was mainly played in rural areas now it can be found pretty much anywhere and even online.
